Na de overhandiging van het programma in Stavoren op woensdag 6 oktober begon het echte werk in Witmarsum op zaterdag 9 oktober. Bij de supermarkt werd een optimist neergezet en het winkelend publiek kreeg koffie aangeboden.

Hoewel 24 november nog 7 weken vanaf nu is, waren de meeste aangesproken mensen zich wel bewust van de verkiezingen voor de nieuwe gemeente Súdwest Fryslân. Er ontstonden leuke gesprekken rond de optimist waar men ook zelf een aandachtspunt op kon plakken. Witmarsumers kenmerken zich door hun tevredenheid. Wel werd de vrees geuit dat Sneek wel eens de boventoon kon gaan voeren. Bokwerds belang heeft dus nog een belangrijke taak. Dat onderkennen wij natuurlijk ook en daarom begonnen we onze campagne ook in Stavoren en waren we vandaag in deze hoofdplaats van Wûnseradiel.

In alle dorpen van Wûnseradiel werd vanaadg ook een DVD en boek bij de mensen bezorgd, waarmee de gemeenteraad de bewoners een afscheidskado meegeeft. In Exmorra kwamen we precies op het moment dat een karavaan van geheste mensen met een verrijdbaar podium het dorp muzikaal attendeerde op dit afscheidskado. Dit bood ons de gelegenheid gesprekken te voeren met betrokken bewoners. Op de vraag wie nu dan wel dé vrijwilliger van Exmorra is, werd door een aantal duidelijk gezegd: dat zijn er meerdere. Dat bleek ook. We kregen in dit dorp vijf namen op ons briefje: Tine Veenstra, Jan Steiginga, Germ Brouwer, Fokje Postma-Faber en Pier Postma, waarvan er niet één echt met kop en schouders (wat stemmenaantal betreft) boven de anderen uitstak. We hebben daarom besloten de door ons beschikbaar gestelde oorkonde in lijstje aan Pier Postma te overhandigen, die we aantroffen in it Honk! Daar kregen we ook te horen hoe men over de steun van de gemeente voor het accommodatiebelid dacht. We maken in ons programma duidelijk, dat juist dorpen als Exmorra met draagkracht van en door vrijwilligers steun van de gemeente verwacht mag worden. Immers dat bepaald voor een groot deel de draagkracht. Een zelfstandig kunnen exploiteren van accommodaties achten wij namelijk een belangrijke voorwaarde voor ondersteuning.

Het prachtige weer van vandaag hopen we nog een paar maanden vast te houden. Dat levert bij het aanbieden van koffie of thee vaak een gesprek op. Volgende week staan we vanaf 10 uur bij het café in Oudega en smiddags vanaf 13 uur bij de supermarkt in Woudsend.
